
Garden Smarts Facilitator Training

Description
Garden Smarts is a flexible and modular nutrition-focused garden curriculum designed for leading hands-on workshops with K-8 youth with or without outdoor space.
Course participants will be trained to:
- Implement Garden Smarts workshops in school settings
- Understand holistic gardening concepts
- Appropriately modify activities
- Use trauma-informed facilitation strategies
- Lead recipe demonstrations and group cooking activities that do not require a full kitchen
Audience: Educators, school staff, volunteers, and partners (in-school and out-of-school time)
Key dates are as follows:
- Self-Paced Course Opens: early September
- Registration Closes: September 16
- Live Zoom Sessions: September 15 and 22; Times: 10:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m. PT
Total Training Time: Approximately 5.5 hours total (3 hours of live sessions and about 2.5 hours of self-paced work)
