Training Description

This training introduces the CalFresh Healthy Living County Snapshot template as an educational tool that highlights program work and achievements in your county. This training will also discuss strategies for incorporating this data-driven template into your community engagement work and build confidence to discuss the impact of the CalFresh Healthy Living program. 

Audience: This training is for CalFresh Healthy Living county teams and staff who work with or intend to work with decision-makers.

 

Training Objectives

1. Understand the Difference between Advocacy and Education

   • Discuss the allowability of CFHL educational conversations with policy and decision-makers. Contrast with unallowable advocacy conversations. 
   • Demonstrate how clear communication about what CFHL does and how it makes an impact in the community can support relationship-building with decision-makers in advance of community-level PSE efforts.

2. Utilize Tools and Data Effectively

   • Demonstrate how to build out your own County Snapshot Template 
   • Demonstrate the use of the County Snapshot Template as an effective communication tool.

3. Develop Skills to Engage Decision-Makers

   • Develop concise, audience-specific messaging to communicate the value of SNAP-Ed.
   • Identify opportunities to foster relationships with community partners, decision makers, and other key stakeholders.
   • Incorporate community assets and historical factors into your talking points to complement the data included in the template.
